Introducing 3692 Calafia Avenue in Oakland, California!
When I was told that I would be running the staging and marketing of 3692 Calafia Avenue by myself, I was certain that I would grow tired of being in one of our for-sale properties relatively quickly. Staging a home before putting it on the market can be stressful — at least for me, that is, since I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to the details — but this house ended up being one of my favorite projects in quite some time.
Let me explain.
3692 Calafia has some interesting aspects about it which, in my opinion, give it a bunch of personality. First off, the layout of the home itself is very unique… walking down the staircase to the front door, surrounded by trees and greenery alongside the hillside, you immediately get a sense of privacy not typically found in the City of Oakland. As you unlock the front door and walk into the entryway, you’re instantly “transported” to your own private sanctuary. The noise from the outside world disappears, and you’re enveloped in a space where the view outside makes it feel like you’re vacationing at your private cabin in Tahoe. Walk into the kitchen, and you’re surrounded by stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, a beautiful, blue, faceted glass subway-style backsplash, as well as a large pantry. Turn the corner, and there’s the living room, basking in an abundance of natural light.
After I finished staging the upstairs common areas, the first thing I thought was that it would be an incredible place in which to entertain friends and/or family. Not only are the rooms spacious, but the deck that goes along the side of the house is a great place to step out and enjoy the moonlight or just to get some fresh air.
Also on the upper level is the master bedroom (with a large walk-in closet) and master bathroom. We staged the master bedroom with our largest queen-sized bed frame, and there was plenty of room left over for additional furniture. While I personally enjoy staging somewhere between minimal/clean and cozy/realistic, I definitely had some passing thoughts about bringing in a full-sized dresser or chaise lounge and side table to utilize more of the extra room. Speaking of room, the master bathroom features a large soaking tub that’s surrounded by tile which would be perfect in which to relax after a long day at work while enjoying a glass of wine and listening to some soothing music.
When trying to decide how to stage the downstairs, it immediately came to me that I wanted to make it into a comfy and cozy space where family members could spend time together either watching TV, playing games, or just hanging out by the fireplace. Even with the close proximity to I-580 to this home, it’s incredible just how quiet and peaceful it is once you’re inside. Like I pointed out earlier, I think a large part of that has to do with being on the top of a hill, as well as the lack of neighbors on two sides. After a long day of staging, I made the decision to spend the night at the house so that I could work late that night and get up and running early the next morning. I expected to have a difficult time falling asleep with the freeway noise, but surprisingly, it ended up being a non-issue! I woke up, ordered some breakfast via DoorDash, and got back to work.
All in all, I’m proud of the work we here at Lifestyle Real Estate Services has done — between the rehab project, the preparation, the staging, and the marketing, I think I speak for all of us here in saying that we’re excited to introduce the next owners of 3692 Calafia Avenue to their new home. Between the quick freeway access for commuters, the cozy neighborhood, and gorgeous redesign of the property, I’m certain it will become a place in which you and your family will be excited about coming home to.
